Surprisingly, we arrived at consensus for fielding an anti-ALEC protest quickly. Part of the reason for this is that confronting ALEC allows progressives to confront many issues - like privatizers seeking to undermine public education or energy companies wanting to hide the chemical makeup of fracking fluids that may contaminate drinking water. In addition, ALEC works hand-in-glove with State Policy Network affiliates like the Texas Public Policy Foundation. Showing how these work together is an extraordinary opportunity to expose the Far Right machine.
