Suspect Nabbed for Stealing Briefcase out of Worcester Police Cruiser Worcester, MA (June 10, 2013) - On Saturday, June 8, 2013, at approximately 1:00 PM, a Worcester police officer assigned to the Community Impact Division was patrolling the neighborhood around Highland Street. While driving by the vicinity of 110 Highland Street, he observed a male take a briefcase out of another parked Worcester police cruiser. The male, later identified as 40-year-old Robert Eaton III, was observed reaching into the cruiser and removed the item. At the time of the incident, the officer who was assigned to the parked cruiser was responding to a call inside a nearby building. After removing the briefcase, Mr. Eaton III looked up and saw the other officer observing his actions. The suspect began to run from the scene. The officer chased after the suspect. During the pursuit, the suspect turned and threw the briefcase at the officer. The officer closed in on the suspect and tackled him to the ground. The suspect struggled with the officer until he was eventually subdued. Mr. Eaton III, 40-years-old of 57 South Street, Worcester, was placed under arrest and charged with larceny under the value of $250.00, Resting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct and Breaking and Entering in the Daytime with the Intent to Commit a Felony.
