Sustainability Bottom line. Our planet is dying rapidly and we - TopicsExpress

Sustainability Bottom line. Our planet is dying rapidly and we dont care enough to try to find out why. Yet, without being alarmist in any way, just from commonly reported statistics published from reliable sources like USDI and USGS, half of us could be dead in eighth years. Lets hope that these reports are wrong. If they are wrong, why cant we get better, more accurate reports. If the reports are correct, why is it that nobody cares. Anybody can check these numbers and verify them. Worst of all, why are our pop leaders repeatedly claiming that there is nothing to worry about, weve got plenty, we need to grow? There is a major factual disconnect between our pop leaders at every level and the factual data reports. It is simply impossible that both are correct. Why is this not important enough to us, so that we demand that pop leaders either get the data right; or, if it is already correct, shut up, and help us find a solution? What can possibly be gained by not facing this problem forthrightly in the search for rational solutions. For me, a famine that reduces the population of the United States from 317 million people to half that size in a few weeks or months is not a rational solution. Yet here we are. What are you going to do about it?
