Sweeping Up in Iowa Bradley University swept University of Iowa, on the road, beating them 15 to zero on Friday night, and six to two on Saturday. Bradley proves once again that they have no trouble finding the back of the net. On Friday night, the Braves quickly put up five points in the first period with goals from Kyle Duffy (#15), Brad Niketopoulos (#13), Doug Miceli (#21), Dillion Long (#3), and Kyle Duffy (#15), again, with his second goal of the period. In the second period the Braves scored seven more goals forcing Iowa to switch goaltenders with five minutes left in the second after a fluke goal. The seven goals were scored by Doug Miceli (#21), Alex Wagner (#18), Evan Heimerl (#4), Josh Powers (#22), Brad Niketopoulos (#13), and Josh Powers (#22) with his second goal of the period coming on the power play. Doug Miceli (#21) registered his first hat trick of the season, on a power play, when he scored five hole with 9.3 seconds left in the period. In the third period, Josh Powers (#22) picked up a rebound and fired it passed the Iowa goaltender, on the power play, for his first hat trick of the season. JD Boerger (#6) scored shorthanded, and Braden Shumaker (#19) added another goal to bring the total to 15. Dan Smith (#1) earned his second shut out of the season, and the Braves went three for six on the power play. The Braves battled their way to a second win against Iowa on Saturday. JD Boerger (#6) was the first to score for the Braves when he beat the goaltender low on the glove side with 9:09 left in the first period. Bradley took a two goal lead before the first period expired when Doug Miceli (#21) shot the puck low shortside on a four on four opportunity. Two more goals were netted in the second period by JD Boerger (#6) for his second hat trick of the season. Iowa managed to finally register on the scoreboard with two quick, back-to-back, goals at the start of the third period. Just as Iowa began closing the scoring gap by making it a four to two game in the middle of the period, the Braves responded with two more goals. One goal by Doug Miceli (#21) and a second by Michael Huddleston (#8) with only 14 seconds left in the game. The Braves completed the sweep against Iowa winning the second game with a final score of six to two. The Braves have a bye weekend coming up, but they take on University of Wisconsin-Platteville on October 4th at 10:45 and October 5th at 4:30 in Wisconsin.
