Sweet... * MTBNZ National Championships 2014 – 16 Mountain Bike NZ (MTBNZ) is pleased to announce that the National MTB Championships will be hosted in Rotorua for the next three years. Speaking today the President of MTBNZ Jordan Moss, said that an approach had been made to MTBNZ and BikeNZ by the organisers of the Rotorua Bike Festival for Rotorua to host the National Championships for the next three years as the centre piece of the Festival. “Given the successful long history Rotorua has in hosting major mountain biking events including World, Oceania, and National Championships, plus the iconic nature of the downhill and cross country courses, Rotorua is an obvious venue for the National championships” Jordan said. By confirming the National Championships for three years the Rotorua Bike Festival organisers will now be able to secure sponsorship and funding commitments for this three year period. With Rotorua confirmed as the National Championships venue for 2014 to 2016, MTBNZ is now working on finalising the venue for the 2014 Oceania championships. Longer term MTBNZ will be working with mountain biking clubs to arrange the host venues for the National Championships from 2017 onwards and for future Oceania championships.
