|| T U E S D A Y S T U D E N T L O V E || One of our fantastic students Bronwyn has given us apart of her yoga story to share, full of inspiration and a reminder that one day you will get there! Thankyou so much for sharing! We loved it and we are so proud to have such dedicated students. HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY with us! Cheers to many more to come! A letter to my Bikram Yoga teachers To my dear Bikram Yoga teachers This month I celebrate my 3rd Bikram birthday so I’d like to say a big THANK YOU!! I’m 51 years old, I’m a mum, and I work fulltime as a specialist cancer nurse which can be very challenging. For 32 years I wreaked havoc on my joints playing basketball, and for 25 years I’ve wreaked havoc on my back nursing. I found Bikram yoga 3 years ago whilst looking for a gentler, kinder way to treat my body and still stay fit. At first like many, I found the heat overwhelming, but it was how I felt after that first class that made me come back for more. It was almost a euphoric sense of well-being. The postures were challenging and many I could not do, but I sensed I had discovered something worth pursuing so I kept coming back wondering where it would lead me. You said one day I would be able to bend down and touch my face to my shins, forearms on the backs of the legs, whilst locking my knees… And one day I did! You said one day I would be able to kick-out whilst locking my standing leg, bring my elbows down and touch my forehead to my knee… And one day I did! You said one day I would be able to see my leg come up over the top of my head and get my body down, body down, chest down… And one day I did! You said one day I would be able to touch my forehead to the floor between my feet whilst contracting my thighs and locking my knees… And one day I did! I can’t do every posture perfectly every day and there are still some I struggle with, but I’ve learned the art of quiet persistence; of focussing on the breath, of being present in the moment. And I’ve taken this outside of the yoga room and it is now a part of my daily life in all that I do. Bikram yoga has changed my health, my flexibility, the shape of my body and the way I approach my life. I am fitter, my joints and back no longer ache, I’m toned and I’m lighter. I also manage whatever stress comes my way a whole lot better. I look forward to every class as no two classes are the same, and I’m always excited to see what my body and mind will achieve each time I step on my mat. I’ve also made some lovely yoga friends along the way. So THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Thank you for your teachings, your time, your corrections and your ever present encouragement. Hugs to you all & I’ll see you on the mat! Namaste Bron
