TBM TRUMPET CALL 2014-10-22 “For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.” ~ HEBREW 11:10 THE CITY OF GOD The writer of the Epistle to the Hebrews said of father Abraham, that he looked for the city of grace, whose origin or foundation is God, the architect and builder is also God. There is a city of God; the building materials are His people, they are referred to a as living stones. Only God determines who will be in that building and how the building will be built. It is good to identify our roles in this eternal building plan of God. Principal in this plan is that God’s people be shaped by God, with the help of His five-fold ministerial gifts, who work with God in building us His saints to fit into His building plan. We are also referred to as the people who will become the bride of Christ. We are washed and cleansed by the water of His word {Ephesians 5:26}, fitted and framed together into a holy temple {Please see Ephesians 2:21-22}, to become a habitation for God. It is therefore crucial for His people to know, no man determines who fits into God’s building plans. God has noted in His word that some people would be cast away by His people, thinking they are able to determine whom He uses or not, He said; “Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at His word; ‘Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for My name’s sake, said, Let the Lord be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.” {Isaiah 66:5} Nevertheless, the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, ‘The Lord knoweth them that are His. And let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” {2 Timothy 2:19} It is our duty to remain and not forsake the congregation of the saints to be part of God’s plan. However, no man except God determines whom God would use, and what and where everyone will fit into. Trust in God is very important. We can only know our brethren by the Spirit, but first it is our duty to ensure that what we believe is the spirit at work in us is God’s Spirit. Often we think we know other people in the spirit when the spirit at work in our life has attached to it the stronghold of prejudice or any other such spirits, hence what we claim is the spirit has nothing to do with God at all. We owe it to God to work with God to rid ourselves of strongholds (mental bondage and character formed through assimilation), for this we have His word {Please see 2 Corinthians 10:3-6}. As living stones {Please see 1 Peter 2:5}, we are therefore enjoined to present our bodies as living sacrifices {Romans 12:1}. This gives God room to shape or fashion us up for His pleasure, which will also result in our pleasure and beauty to the glory of God. This is how we become part of His bride, and the city God is building as His habitation. Surrender is the key, humility is the means, His glory is the end, Amen. As living sacrifices, our lives and our offerings must be willing and joyful; “For if there be first a willing mind, it is acceptable according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.” {2 Corinthians 8:12} This is the sacrifice that God accepts; our lives as living, lively sacrifices, and our offerings willing and joyful, this will forever be blessed.
