***TEAM CARP COUTURE*** TEILLATS REPORT FROM CARP COUTURES TRIP TO TEILLATS. WITH THANKS TO MICHAEL MURRAY FOR COMPILING THE REPORT, WHAT A WEEK !!!!!! Teillatts / Carp Couture trip May 2014. We had booked a trip on 24th May to the great lake; full of aspirations but with some doubt in our minds over the heat and spawning. Colin O’Gorman, Gaz Dillon of carp couture was confirmed with me and 8 others from Stoke and Lincoln. Some experienced and some Teillatts virgins, we even had the pleasure of two ex bailiffs on the trip and of course two talented anglers from the home of Carping, Kent. The previous week was a little odd as only 40 carp had been caught by 13 anglers, so not much clue as to where the shoal might be. I teamed up with Colin and decided to get both ends covered if we could in the draw as it is possible to share big swims with a couple of rods each . This type of team work is rare but works well with a draw on a lake. Fortunately we both got a good draw, so Colin went in the crescent, I went in New Biffos mainly because I had never fished it and it is known as The swim on the lake. A gamble I know but I’m pretty relaxed at the lake these days. Gaz went into a swim called the Shit House opposite Colin. Monday dawned and it was obvious that the fish were shoaled up at the other end to me with the Crescent, Shithouse and Double all producing fish. There had been a few down my end with Kevin Alfrie having Clover at 75 pounds and Tony in the Fence 3 fish very quickly on Saturday . I too to my surprise had caught a couple of 40 pound fish. Wednesday and the four anglers at the Shithouse end had caught over 70 fish , with Gaz Dillon having the Digi at 86 , a Fish called Jezs Common at 65 and multiple 50s . Colin catching a 60 and a couple of 50s, Frosty in the double 3x50 to 59 and Kev Smith 10 fish to 59 . Fortunately I was ticking away with regular action and 9 fish to 49 pound. Thursday was a quite day all-round; I knew from experience that this meant the fish were on the move where would they pop up. I radioed Colin “Something’s changing in the Matrix mate” He agreed, a little disappointed that the fish were on the move! Gaz Dillon in true form had caught 30 fish by now and Colin 17. Tony had moved from the Fence to the Stump to anticipate the fish moving and managed to catch a few fish straightaway. Change was definitely a foot. I managed a couple more on Thursday night. Friday arrived and all dead at Colin’s and Gaz’s end. Tony in the stump had caught another 3 or 4 and Teddy on the point opposite Tony was now catching. Would I run out of time as the main shoal made its way around the lake ? Jake the lake Bailiff delivered breakfast and I took in the last day , starting to tidy the gear for the pack down at 7.30a.m , Jake would pick me up first at 8am and my bite time was 9am to 11am. I would have to bait lighter to try and shorten the time! Just as I was thinking about tidying up my right hand rod dropped back a couple of inches , I knew from experience the lead would be off so wound down tight and strike hard , I was fishing a far way out . A dogged fight and a big common in the net! Gaz and Colin came round and we did the honours 57.12. I like to catch a 50 when I go to France, so I had achieved my objective ! Just as I prepare to cast the rod back out the other rod rattles off. A seriously powerful fight and another 50 in the net! Just like busses, waited all week then 2 in half an hour! I get the rods back out, eat dinner and settle for the night! By morning I’ve got 3 more on the score card , 2x40 and a 30! In summary for the week, all 11 anglers caught a total of 131 carp with Gaz Dillon having 30 fish, Colin 17, Andrew Frost, 17, Tony Margaritas 15, Teddy on the point 10, Kevin Smith 11. Kevin Alfrie caught Clover at 75, Gaz the Digi at 86, Colin a 60 and 2x50. And not to forget my good friend Sean Prout or Sprouty, who moved and managed 3 to 49. I managed to bag 18 fish 2x50, 11X40 5x30. An amazing week with good friends and the fish post spawning gorging! The Carp Couture trip was an amazing success and I’m sure the smart clothing helped us along the way!
