TECH TIP: Freezing your pulp while inside the mold can help release the cast without as much (or any) damage. Even if you dont use the oven method, it still helps keep details and mild undercuts from being damaged while releasing from the mold. Just now, I released another skull cast from my mold after it spent a few hours in the freezer. This one was a thin layer of Celluclay (mixed very dense, behaves somehow like clay), immediately followed by a bruishing of boiled wheat paste, then 4 layers of paper strips, applied in one step (stack 4 pieces of pasted paper, then tear into MUCH smaller pieces as needed, overlapping into the mold as usual), then dried inside with a hair dryer for about an hour at warm setting. When that strip shell was stable enough, I placed in the freezer. I also released a bigger sun mask, made in the same method, but freezing was not required, as the undercuts were minimal. Photos coming soon. Im hopeful that these will have ideal definition, considering my recent results.
