THANK YOU FOR THE PRESS RELEASE! For Immediate Release: August 28, 2014 Contact: Rose Roby (727) 415-2875 Jeff Roby: (727) 482-9669 The Green Party of St. Petersburg is proud to support Dr. Farid Khavari, Independent, for Governor, of Florida “Democrats plan aggressive push for unity after Florida primary!” blares the headline. Having trounced his more progressive primary opponent Nan Rich (74 – 26 statewide, 80 – 20 in Pinellas County), Chain Gang Charlie Crist thinks he has a free hand to run a “principles-free” race against Governor Rick Scott. His game is to be a shade more progressive than the Neanderthal Republican. His assumption is that progressives in the Sunshine State have nowhere to go, they have no choice but to fall in line behind the former Republican Charlie Crist who played such a fine role in getting Florida in the dire condition it is now in. But: Independents say, “What we need is a little more Disunity!” “We need to be uniting around things like the demand for jobs,” states Rose Roby, Chair of the St. Petersburg local of the Green Party of Florida. “We need to unite for quality healthcare for all the people of Florida. No more Fergusons! We need to support “15 Now” and unite around the $15/hour minimum wage. The St. Petersburg local of the GPFL calls on all the decent Floridians who put their hopes behind progressive Nan Rich to join us in supporting Farid Khavari for Governor, Independent.” “It all depends on how you set up the system,” explains Dr. Farid Khavari, independent candidate for Governor of Florida. “This system is collapsing already. “The people are also going to collapse. Our commercial banking system is living on fees and interest. It only transfers wealth, it does not generate wealth. But an independent governor who is an economist with a plan, working for—and with— all of the people, can transform Florida’s economy for everyone. “The solution is a publicly owned SuperBank. Commercial banks serve their executives and their shareholders. They make huge profits. A publicly owned bank, owned by all of the people of Florida, can provide low-cost financing and re-financing, even make a small profit, while offering a decent rate for long-term deposits. Just think of our SuperBank as a new commercial bank, except that it works for the people of Florida instead of the other way around. Then we could really invest in the people of Florida! We could: • Make quality health care available to all Floridians while reducing Medicaid spending. • Clean up our environment and our water, now. • Reduce interest costs of home ownership and student loans by 75%. • End Corporate Welfare in Florida.” khavariforgovernor/ floridawestcoastgreens.org/
