THAT GOV. FAYOSE ADVERT... I have read and listened to comments since yesterday when the controversial advert by Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, came out in PUNCH. As usual, reactions have followed partisan lines. For me, that advert was in BAD TASTE, DISGUSTING and UNCALLED FOR. I know were it to be in countries where politicians listen to their aides and handlers, Gov. Fayose would never place such ad. God is the owner of life. He alone determines life and death. As Yoruba will say: igi gbigbe a duro, igi tutu a wo. Roughly translated, it means while trees with withered and dry leaves stand, those with luxuriantly green leaves fall. I have refused to comment on Buharis health for one reason: if truly the man is not healthy and those pushing him on are saying he is, before long nature will ask both of them. You cannot cheat it! It is like water. It does not need your support to find its level. Gods way is mysterious. There is no law that says President Jonathan cannot die before Buhari. Death does not follow age grade. If it does, parents should not be burying their children but that happens everyday. I have read people of little minds here wishing Jonathan dead. That is their extent of their hatred for the man and love for Buhari. Like I said on Sunday, when these partisan times are over, I wonder if some of us will be able to look God in the face and say: I have fought good fight and kept the faith (as far as my interest in Nigerias wellbeing is concerned) now the crown of life, which hath been provided for me, I possess!
