THE BAD REP OF FATS Lately I have seen many comments of shock and confusion regarding eating fats, which is understandable because over the past couple decades eating a diet with fat is damn near a stigma. Not all fats are the same. Your body needs healthy fats that you find in such products as fish (like tuna, salmon or sardines), nuts (such as almonds and walnuts), oils (such as sesame, grape seed, or olive oils-or even just olives themselves), and of course the list just goes on and on. Fats are a major part of new cell and hormone growth, as well as protecting your organs and bones, and aid in the proper absorption of many vitamins and nutrients. If you want to eat a certain diet or try something new I will always support one who is trying to better themselves, but take the time to understand how your body works and your basic needs prior to adjusting your diet and lifestyle. If you look back over the years regarding health in general and stats among population, especially here in the US, you will find that health began a decline and the obesity epidemic began during the same time that low fat and fat free diets became increasingly popular. You think this is a coincidence?
