THE BIKE I previously owned a 1999 Triumph Sprint ST until I - TopicsExpress

THE BIKE I previously owned a 1999 Triumph Sprint ST until I crashed it. It was my fault. I had toured the UK and Europe extensively and it never gave me any problems. Not even a puncture! After being out of the loop for a number of years, I decided that my re-entry into the world of tarmac was better done on a lighter and more nimble performer. I wanted to buy a Tiger Explorer (unfortunately, I couldn’t afford it) but I was extremely lucky to come across this 1992 HONDA CBR600F. It was stored under cover for 20 years and I am proud to say it is in excellent condition. It had done 1500 miles and so far I have only covered 2400 miles. I’ve been told by Castleford Motorcycles that it’s hardly been run in! Well, that will soon change, I suppose. I’ve cleaned and tidied up the exhaust system which was basically sound, but a little bit rusty. Ideally I would like to change the downpipes to a stainless steel unit. If I can raise the funds, I’ll get that done. It is fully MOT’d and Taxed. It will require a general service before setting off. Other than that, it runs fine. The tyres are Michelin Pilot Radials. My intention is to fit a GPS tracker that would to enable fellow bikers from all over the country to monitor my progress and join me on any part of the legs of the journey. It would be something of an extraordinary sight to see and let’s hope that I can bring this about. I’d like to thank my friend Steve Webb for helping me choose this bike and Simon Hempsall for prepping it for me. Also David at Brook Suspension and Dave at Normanton Tyres, for sorting out the forks.
