THE CAT WITH THE HAT is our Director of Parks and the MAN with the TEAM that looks after our Rivulet and Parks And one location is a beautiful parkland area on the fringe of our City......South Hobart Primary School kids attended the opening of Hobarts Rivulet Linear Park - Anglesea St. Link today and sang a few songs. Thanks guys, and what terrific weather. See Pics. The Cat with the Hat is the Over 300 users access the lower Hobart Rivulet Park each weekday, many are commuters going to work in the City, nearly 80 of them are cyclists. Other users include local school children walking to school. These numbers are increasing with the popularity of the newly constructed Anglesea St link – level access being the key. 25 years ago the City of Hobart established the Hobart Rivulet Linear Park that has become a resounding success for the residents of South Hobart, particularly walkers, joggers, cyclists, tourists and dog walkers. There was one aspect of the park that remained missing: the critical link extending from Anglesea to MacFarlane Street required park users to climb the Hill Track diverting half a kilometre up around the old Boags Warehouse site. Previous negotiations to buy the land proved fruitless, so it wasn’t until the C3 Church purchased the property that the Council was able to buy a critical parcel of 5800m2 of rivulet land, 400 metres in length.” Over the last two years half a million dollars was spent to develop the Rivulet recreational corridor from Anglesea Street through to MacFarlane Street, guided by the Council’s 2011 Hobart Rivulet Strategic Master Plan.
