THE DEATH OF THE NIGERIAN FOURTH ESTATE. Virtually every aspect of the Nigerian society is dead. The executive, judiciary and legislature are all dead. The sectors, but for the corruption and hypocrisy sectors had been since given a collective burial rite. But now, the comatose fourth estate would not be left alone to wither, its networked branch will scotch its life. No thanks to unemployment, bad education and societal worship of money and material things. The internet and particularly, social media had been hacked by hungry youths and old evil genius political, ethnic and religious extremists. Hungry in the Nigerian sense of it; to become a “big man”, to ride in convoys with an intimidating blaring siren, to win juicy government contracts, to own mansions across the world, to be a governor or minister, to visit London every three months to “attract investors”, to visit America for treatment of headache, to be a party thieftan and “democracy dividend dispenser” or maybe to replace Dr. Reuben Abati who is now “eating”. They just want their own share of the petro dollars! So when President Jonathan sacks the CBN governor, they would rush to the internet via the social media and tell the susceptible that; they sacked Sanusi Sanusi because he is a Muslim, a Northerner, a truthful and upright man, others would say the president sacked Sanusi because the Igbos and Yoruba said he should do so, others yet, would justify his sack because he “tackles” the South South presidency! When Stella Odua bought the super cars, these hack writers would blow it out of proportion;because she is Igbo, she is not Hausa, she is a saint, she is a demon and many stupid attributes and incisive comments. When hundreds die daily in the north, it is Buhari and Amechi! When they kidnap/hide thePDP chairman of Rivers State, it is Rochas Okorocha! when an APC thieftan has a car crash, it must be Jonathan and Ngozi Okojo Iweala! At the end of the day,they end up concealing the major issue in any topic raised by bringing in ethnic, religious or political sentiments. Deceiving the masses and promoting corruption. The youths in this trade never hunger for any change in this country; to lend a helping hand to the oppressed, to revive the dead sectors. No! To do the later is impossible, they can only pray God to come and rescue Nigeria for he has power to do all things-even to change Nigeria instantly! So, the netizen is now fed with lies, poison and cheap propaganda by these political hacks. They lay “spores of poison and doom future generations to a confinement of human relationships within the darkest corners of the mind”- apologies to Professor Wole Soyinka. Sponsored by enemies of the people in the PDP, APC, APGA and other inhuman fraternities and cults that thrive in Nigeria, these youths set out straight to Facebook and Twitter to deceive and cause mind corrosion. Their sponsors can be likened to the “ homicidal clerics who arm the youths with kerosene and match, cudgel and knife, a few Naira in their beggars’ bowls, and dispatch them to set fire to structures of comradely cohabitation, of reflection, of mind enlargement and destroy communities of learning”- apologies again to Professor Wole Soyinka. These youths have no respect for human life and dignity, the same evil they accuse their victims of. They take people to bee animals that can be toyed with and they certainly do toy with the masses by continuously foisting falsehood on their audience and deliberately distorting facts. When they report a negative truth about their victims, they blow it out of proportion! What I call adding of Maggi cube to stories. They are most evil. The governments and persons they “mark” cause less harm. Activists? When their games fail. Many of them will make money but cannot survive; for the wrath of their victims may come upon them, but if they are saved from that, that of the masses they deceived with their jeremiads must be the nemesis.
