THE EKENE-KATRINA LOVE STORY Once upon a time in May 2012, a certain Doctor named Ekenedilichukwu Ileka, who worked with Pro-Health Intl, Nigeria, went on a medical mission to Madagascar to help provide free medical care to the less privileged people of that country. There he met a beautiful, God-fearing, American lady who also came for the same purpose under the auspices of Hands of Hope. As they worked together, they took a liking to each other. After the one week mission, they both went back to their countries. The beautiful thing is that one week was enough to spark up something as sacred as love. Yes, they fell in love. They kept in touch through sms, instant messaging, skype, calls, emails etc. Even with the distance their love waxed stronger and stronger. Neither of them gave up on their love despite the distance. They persisted, the love between them kept alive the hope that one day theyll be together. I just spoke with Dr. Ekenedilichukwu Ileka. Guess what? He was calling me from the airport. Hes on his way to meet his darling Katrina. Today is April 13, 2014, 2 years after they first met. They were in physical contact for just one week when they met, and never saw each other again after that. By this time tomorrow though, the love birds will see each again after 2 years. And in a few months they will be married. What a beautiful story! One of the things I learnt from their story is that while youre busy with Gods work, He will be busy with yours. They were both fulfilling purpose when they stumbled into each other. Destiny can only be fulfilled while living in Gods plan. The second thing I learnt is that when love is true, distance will be defied. These guys stayed in love and kept the hope and fire alive for 2 years. This speaks of resilience, perseverance and determination. Katrina to me is a rare and different kind of woman. I keep wondering how you meet someone for just one week in a foreign land and build such a beautiful relationship. It takes a woman who fears God to make such a commitment and keep it. Dr. Ekene to me is a rare gem. He is made in heaven. He has this charm that reflects in his smiles. No wonder Katrina fell head over heels for him. Never seen a man whose love for God is so simple. Im sure they will make a lovely couple. They are both gifts to us. As their friend, I couldnt help but pen this little story down. Ekene and Katrina, I wish you both a sweet life together. Never forget that the God who brought you together will keep you. You might see things you dont like about each other. But always remember that the perseverance, patience and love you have built over the years will smoothen you out. You are blessed. Be fruitful and multiply.
