THE FARMER, THE ANGEL, AND THE COW TWO ANGELS asked for - TopicsExpress

THE FARMER, THE ANGEL, AND THE COW TWO ANGELS asked for accommodation for the night from a farmer one night. He and his wife put them in a cold, dark, dank and damp dungeon in the basement of their farmhouse. There was just enough light for them to see a gaping hole in the wall of the bunker. The food was awful but they were thankful. By morning light the senior angel has, out of gratitude for free bed and board, repaired the hole with a lot of concrete and good paint over. Later that day, after several miles of walking, they lodged with another farmer and his wife. This couple couple treated them nicely. They had only one cow that gave them milk but the farmers wife insisted the visitors should have the days yield, to her husbands reluctant acquiescence. The food was good and the room commodious and cosy. Early the next morning, before they left, there was great sadness on the farm as news spread that the milch cow had died during the night. The angels bade them their farewells. The junior angel sulked all day as they trekked along. When he eventually spoke, he said, I honestly dont understand you. We were treated shabbily by one farmer, yet you blessed them and had their broken wall repaired. We were treated like kings by a poor couple and you allowed their only cow to die? The senior angel laughed and said, Things are not always what they look like superficially. The first farmer - oh yes, he treated us unfairly - but unknown to him, there is a vast cache of precious stones, diamonds and gold in his basement, so I sealed it off completely. As for the kind farmer, whilst you all slept, the Angel of Death came to take his wife but I gave him the cow instead. Folks, next time something horrible happens to you, please thank God - He usually sends His angels to trade our premature deaths for the loss of property, cow, or business. He punishes evil doers and sowers of discord. He is the Righteous Judge in whom there is neither impartiality, favouritism or turning. My soul magnify the Lord, of whom the David wrote, THE LORD IS GOOD, AND DOETH GOOD. (Psa 119:68). Just because you dont know why is not enough reason to question Gods fairness, goodness, presence or care for you. You may doubt Him, but He is faithful, and just. Charles Tindley, in 1905, wrote the hymn: By and by, when the morning comes, When the saints of God are gathered home, We will tell the story, how weve overcome, WE WILL UNDERSTAND IT BETTER, by and by
