THE FIFTH AND LAST DAY OF MUSICAL CHOICES. I could not make my five choices WITHOUT including my first musical and political hero, Paul Robeson. I first met him in London as a boy when my parents hosted him - he appeared at a rally opposing the Suez war. He was a giant amongst men, a great and noble artist and he had a voice to die for. Here he sings the ballad of Joe Hill, which commemorates a union leader who was framed on a murder charge and hung at the instigation of the Copper Bosses back in 1904. I have been a union man since I first heard this as a boy and to this day it resonates in my consciousness. One love. youtube/results?search_query=paul+robeson+joe+hill
