THE GOLDEN AGE OF ROCK n ROLL A fan has suggested an excellent subject to discuss, the UK and Australian Buddy and Crickets tours,a great idea, but lets take it further,so we encompass all the Buddy and Crickets tours in the USA as well. So would you ladies and gentlemen, the ORIGINAL Rock n Roll fans out there, who heard those amazing recordings when they were first released, and watched, perhaps with some trepidation,on TV or Movie News-clips,the frenzy and fear that was evolving in the 1950s,when films like Backboard Jungle, and the rebellious,care-free artists who were creating the Rockabilly,R&B,Doo-wop and Rock n Roll classics were taking over the music scene, consider contributing to this subject? ESPECIALLY those of you who were lucky enough to attend any of those amazing and often crazy Rock n Roll concerts and package tours around the world. If you could kindly give us your thoughts on what you recall, and what the reaction to it all was from the older folks at that time,it would be most interesting and appreciated. Wed really love to hear from any of you who went to those fantastic Alan Freed Shows, they must have been sensational! A real bonus for every Buddy/Cricket fan, would be any pics or snaps you may have from those legendary shows around the world that you could share with us all, even pics of original posters would be great. My dads favourite recollection was hearing Thatll Be The Day for the first time in 1957 at the local Fairground, blasting out from the Tannoy speakers. He always says,Rock n Roll never sounded better![ except from seeing the artists performing live in concerts of course ] In the meantime, lets remind ourselves again of one of your all time favourite Buddy songs with The Crickets,on The Arthur Murray Dance Party at The Paramount Theatre NY December 1957, performing the immortal Peggy Sue. The introduction from the young lady says it all about the times! [ Notice how,as usual,Buddy played mostly all downstrokes with his plectrum hand, giving that unique hard-edged bite to his revolutionary Fender Stratocaster guitar sound. ] https://youtube/watch?v=zQZyoa9FNlw
