THE GOOD NEWS Ernest Joseph Flanagan Most of our rivers are dirty, our ground water is impure In future there’ll be no water supply , of this I am most sure The people will cry for water, that money cannot buy Where will water come from when rivers all run dry The people will survive, but I can’t imagine how The good news is that we won’t live to see it Those of us reading this now They’re cutting down the forests, and mining cultivable land Just to make more money, this much I understand Animals and birds have grown extinct Just as if this had been planned What will people eat and drink if they are to survive somehow The good news is that we won’t live to see it Those of us reading this now The seas will have no fish, no birds in the sky No animals on the ground and we all know why This is the world our children’s children will inherit We will have destroyed it before they could share it Is there’s a chance they could survive somehow?
