It has shown to be a cog in the wheel of progress of development. Nonetheless, this issue has eaten deep into the fabric of the spiritual institutions. Lateness is simply spending extra time, even after the commencement of a particular event. The bible is filled with instances opposing lateness. This study tends to examine the issue to enhance a timely correction of this social vice. (Heb.11:6, Mt. 25:1-13, Eph. 5:16, Ps. 63:1-11) 1. ACQUISITION OF JOY IN GOD’S PRESENCE. PS.122:1 a. The presence of God should be a place to get happiness. Ps.16:11 b. We should never be weary to enter God’s presence. c. Blessings abound for those who walk in his ways. Ps. 128:1 2. ANANIAS AND SAPHIRRA AS A CASE STUDY. ACT.5:6-10 a. If she hadn’t come late, she might not have died, peradventure she might repent. b. There was a planned lateness between the couple 3. AFRICAN TIME SYNDROME. This is staying one hour after the start of church activity a. There is no punishment in Church 4. WHY DO PEOPLE LATE a. To make a grand entrance and be noticed (Mt.6:5) b. To come in at an expected time. 5. HOW TO AVOID LATENESS a. Have a plan to get to the location 10 or15 minutes before service starts. b. Set a goal. Decide what time to leave your house. c. Think ahead, in case of emergencies. d. Get organized. Put books, bibles in order, so it’s easily accessible when it’s time to leave. e. Take care of physical needs. Take care of feeding and clean up before its time to leave. CONCLUSION When all has been said, it is important for us to know that coming early to church service(s) can make us to motivate other weaker brethren to come early as well ……………’’better three hours too soon than a minute too late’’… William Shakespeare
