THE INSTITUTE OF BUILDERS’ MERCHANTS IOBM PRACTICAL SKILLS CHALLENGE EVENT SET FOR 23RD OCTOBER 2014 Merchant teams can yet again pit their building skills against each other at the next Institute of Builders Merchants (IoBM) Practical Building Skills Challenge Event, on Thursday 23rd October 2014. The institute is calling for entries from teams of four to compete in a series of challenges covering carpentry and joinery, block paving, plastering and tiling. Now in its third year, the successful Practical Building Skills Challenge Event is designed to offer merchant staff a taste of some of the main building trades including Instruction of each task giving some background/underpinning knowledge. Held at Leeds College of Building, the work is judged by tutors from the college and prizes for first and second awarded. All participants receive one years free student membership to the IoBM, for taking part. ENTER A TEAM TODAY By completing a series of challenges, participants benefit from improved product knowledge, with the overall aim that this instils a confidence that will translate into enhanced customer service and sales capabilities back at branch.
