THE IRONIES OF CULTISM AND MURDERS IN IKA The Ironies Of Cultism And Murders In Agbor When Wole Soyinka and six others formed the Pyrates Confraternity in 1952, it was meant for the purpose of correcting the social and moral ills in the society; especially in the universities. That became the history and origin of cultism in Nigeria. Along the line, there was a bizarre creation of other cult groups which led to an abuse of the purpose and intent of those who invented it. Agbor as a part of Delta State, is presently suffering from this misapplication of purpose. Evil has a way of taking roots in the mind of youths. This is due to the exuberance that exist in the life of the younger generation. No one is celebrated a hero because of the number of lives he has taken. This puts the award given to Abacha on a questionable platform. I am still looking for a justification from a president I cherish and support. Agbor is a small town that is turning into a ghetto. Agbor is a place where those who grew up within her boarders can easily say “I know that person” or ” I know that family”. One way or the other, Agbor is a place where many people are related by one tie or the other. It could be a common school like Ika grammar school or a common monarch. Then Why kill a brother or friend simply because he doesn’t FLY YOUR COLOUR? Last year I took two friends to a place in Okobi Street to celebrate the joy of being alive. Then I heard three boys sitting close to us saying, “that boy too they form big boy, we go deal with am. We go make am bleed because NA WE GET THIS TOWN”. Imagine such nonsense? Planning to hurt a fellow human being because he is living his style out! Nobody owns Agbor! No cult group owns the town. If you want to be a force to be recognized then build a legal fortune and all will know you have arrived!!!! Why kill a brother because of a cult that won’t celebrate your existence but will drink over your corpse.? Arise my brothers in Agbor. Arise and focus on the issues of development Arise our leaders and re orient our youths… The future of Delta State and Nigeria belongs to them!
