THE LAST WOMBAT IN MECCA I’m not sure if I got that albatross - TopicsExpress

THE LAST WOMBAT IN MECCA I’m not sure if I got that albatross of my back, but it finally landed. Damn… those things can fly! Thank goodness I’m not also afraid of flying – or heights! Those birds sure can fly awfully high, you know? Anyway, coming back to earth can be daunting … crashing and all that. Nonetheless, I made it, figuratively if not literally. I have yet to test my mettle in the water…. I guess with the weather turning cooler now I have the whole fall and winter to think on it and make some sort of plan for diving in the deep. And time enough to figure out what’s keeping me from taking a plunge to begin with. I will though. It has got to be something quite simple. If I can jump off bridges and mountains, out of planes and cliffs, off tall buildings and railroad trestles, and hang out of helicopters and biplanes... I damn sure can step into the unseen depths of unclear aqueous liquid, take a deep breath and submerge myself into the murky deep – without anxiety or inexplicable fear. It can happen... again! Surely... right? So I figure I’ll stay on dry land a bit. My son and daughter-in-law are going to Australia in November. I think perhaps I will rely on that lands animal spirits to not only guide me, but give him a boost for his eventual and planned trip… assist my prayers for his safe keeping to make sure he’s going to be “okay and alright” in the days leading up to his trip. What better creature than a most benevolent one? …it sure ain’t much to look at, but I hear they make great companions. So …for the while, my spirit animal will be the Vombatus Ursinus, found in Australia – the sweetly gentle wombat! Ah, ain’t he cute? The Last Wombat In Mecca - The Steve Miller Band Spoken: The last wombat in Mecca. Take 1. Theres some things I cant find Some are better left alone There are few things I wont find Some are better left alone Like that bulldog in the bathroom Like that wombat on the phone As I float in my Lear jet Without a sling shot or a shield As I hang in my Lear jet Without a shotgun or a shield Hey, a flying saucer wobbled past With a bulldog at the wheel Yeah Can you give us a description Said the air force on the phone Can you certify youve seen this Said the air force on the phone No, but heres his passport And his teeth marks on the phone If I take a long vacation And nail my bulldog to a wall If I leave this smoggy nation And nail my bulldog to a wall If my bulldog keeps his mouth shut Will you remember me at all I hear wombats is good watchdogs! - nathan
