THE LORD IS CLOSE TO THE BROKENHEARTED Psalm 34:18-19 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.” Life is hard! And some seasons of your life seem to be much harder than others and you may begin to wonder where God is? I think that is only human, especially when I read the words of King David. He was a man after God’s own heart and yet in many of his psalms, he was wondering where God was. That makes me feel a little better when at this time in my life, I have cried out that question to God many times! It seems that life just gets a little harder with each day and you see no light at the end of the tunnel! I have always gotten great comfort in knowing that nothing happens that has not passed by God first. Nothing takes Him by surprise. Nothing will ever make Him say, “Wow! Didn’t see that coming!” As in the case of Job, I believe God allows hard times to come on us sometimes to draw us closer to Him, to achieve an ultimate purpose in out life. Unfortunately, knowing that still doesn’t make it easy! I read a quote this morning that I really liked. “To know that nothing happens in God’s world apart from God’s will may frighten the godless, but it stabilizes the saints.” J. I. Packer Soooo, how do we handle these hard time? The only solution is to draw closer and closer to Him. To hide under the shadow of His wings until the storm passes by! Who better to know how to make things right and take care of us and give us the life He planned for us long before we took our first breath than the one who made us? Jesus Christ. I read a little story that illustrates this perfectly. THE MASTER BUILDER Years ago, a man was driving his car down the road when the engine sputtered and stalled. Try as he might, the driver could not restart the engine. As he stood glaring at it, a polished black limo pulled up beside him. The chauffeur hastily jumped out and opened the back door for an elegantly dressed gentleman. The man asked the driver about his problem and offered to take a look under the hood. The man scoffed at the idea of such a finely dressed man having any knowledge of mechanics, but no one else had stopped to help, so he accepted the assistance and threw open the hood. The gentleman leaned over the engine, twisted a few wires, tapped a few cables and tightened a few plugs. Then he told the driver to try to start the car. This time, the car responded immediately. As he closed the hood, the driver thanked the gentleman profusely. Then he asked for his name. The gentleman replied simply, Henry Ford. Henry Ford had made the car, so he had known exactly what was wrong with it and how to fix it! Jesus Christ is the One by Whom, for Whom, and through Whom everything was made. He knows whats wrong in your life and how to fix it. Does your life need mending? Who or what do you know that needs fixing? Jesus, as the creator of life itself, knows how to make it work. Let Him take charge. Give Him the authority to put it right. Psalm 34:18-19 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.” Have a wonderful day and a wonderful Thanksgiving! We have much to be thankful for again this year! PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW!
