THE MAIN REASON DEMOCRATS LOST WAS BECAUSE OF DEMOCRATS. THERE, I - TopicsExpress

THE MAIN REASON DEMOCRATS LOST WAS BECAUSE OF DEMOCRATS. THERE, I SAID IT. There are plenty of elements to blame for the asswhooping Democrats took this midterm: dumb voters, Citizens United dark money, Republican voter suppression, etc..., but none are as heavily to blame as the Democrats themselves. Democrats seem to have a sort of battered womans syndrome in regards to their relationship Republicans. Theyre so used to losing that no matter how big an advantage they start with they always make sure to find a way to give the election away. Theyre so used being under the Republican boot that they willingly lie down, grab the Republican foot and very willingly place it on their own throat, because being on top feels too awkward for them. Ive been saying for years that the Democratic messaging machine is garbage. In fact, its worse than garbage, its nonexistent. Pretty easy for the Republican disinformation machine to fool the masses when their Democratic opponents give absolutely nothing, what-so-ever to refute the lies they spin. Its no wonder that the average American: Conservative, Liberal and Independent, think Republicans are more fiscally responsible when in reality they arent. In reality they are responsible for over 2/3rds of the national debt, including an overwhelming majority of that added under Obama. In reality every major financial calamity of the 20th and 21st Centuries (Great Depression, S&L scandal, ENRON and Great Recession) all happened on Republican watch, following Republican legislation. But no one knows the truth because the ones who are supposed to be countering the Republican false messaging apparatus (Democrats) are somewhere cowering in the dark. What good does it do middleclass Americans for Democrats to present ideas and legislation they agree with, and that supports them, if Democrats dont have the intestinal fortitude to stand on the things they themselves propose? How does it help anyone if they backpedal, distance themselves or cut and run from the very policies that they as Democrats put forth? The Democratic strategy is beyond stupid; its beyond cowardly. Everyone says the midterms go to the opposing party but I say not if the opposing partys approval rating is an unprecedented 13%. America voted for Obamacare not just once but twice (2008 and 2012). That was the platform Obama ran on and thats what the majority of Americans voted for -- twice. So what did the brilliant Democratic (so called) strategists tell Democratic candidates to do in 2014? -- Distance themselves from Obama and Obamacare. They are oblivious to the magnitude of their ineptness because they are completely disconnected from their base. Obama knew how to beat Republicans. He knows that people are driven by emotion. His speeches are moving and emotional, as is the rhetoric of Republicans. But Democrats (Obama not withstanding) play down emotion. They are too “refined” for emotion: in debates, in interviews and in speeches. They have these clueless elites crafting strategy as if the base of their audience is Harvard alumni and not average, blue collar workers. Independents end up resonating more with the passionate lie of the Republican than the soft, robotic truth of the Democrat, and the Democrats are too incognizant and drunk off their own academic pedigrees to know it. Obama also didnt cut and run. He embraced his successes and exploited the fallacies of his opponentss policies, as any rational, logical person would. But Democratic congressmen and Senators obviously arent rational or logical, and they certainly dont have a clue what the majority of Americans want, or else they wouldnt have shot themselves in the face by pretending they werent holding what Americans are looking for (decent healthcare, a livable wage, clean air and water). For the first time since I started this page I will go on record as saying I think Liberals need to start another party, or at a minimum representatives like Elizabeth Warren, Alan Grayson and Bernie Sanders need to form their own subsect of Liberal Democrats, the same way Conservative Democrats formed the Blue Dogs. This current group of inept cowards that call themselves Democrats I can no longer give money or time or support to. In two years we will choose another president, and in two years the Republicans will have run this country into the ground...again. We will need a party at that time that isnt predisposed to losing, and that has backbone; a party that doesnt move to the right any and every time its position gets questioned -- and Im convinced right now that such a party wont be the Democrats that we are dealing with today.
