When he visited the renowned bishop, the bishop received him kindly and made him feel at home. Lord Peterborough remained a few days and then prepared to leave before the end of his intended visit. When asked for an explanation, he confessed, “I cannot stay here any longer, because if I do, I should become a Catholic in spite of myself”! Let your hospitality convert somebody. When Pope Paul VI was the Cardinal Archbishop of Milan, a social worker came to him saying that he was without means to feed the hungry. “My furniture is at your disposal. Sell some to feed the needy,” replied the Cardinal. Do these three things: 1. Help the needy. 2. Help the needy. 3. Help the needy. And the needy are all around you; just check. When Fenelon was Archbishop of Cambria, a parish priest asked him permission to abolish dancing in his parish. “It is right,” the kind Fenelon said to him, “that we should not dance. But why prevent your poor people from dancing and thus forgetting their misery?” Show kindness in your rules. Make your church user-friendly. If it pleases God, do not stop those under you from doing what they love doing just because you don’t like doing those things. LET’S PRAY: Father, teach me your ways of kindness. Take my every act of kindness and use it as a tool of bringing the Good News to people. Amen. SUCCESS ACTIVITY: Write down the names of two family members and two friends, and surprise each one with an act of kindness. Do it for two strangers too!
