THE MASSASOIT ELK’s LODGE No. 129 I.B.P.O.E. of W. Of Cambridge Mass is accepting nominations for the 2015 African – American Community Awards: The spirit of the awards is to annually recognize the achievement of members of the local communities of greater Boston and Cambridge. Criteria for the awards are as follows: Awards nominations are open to anyone whether a member of the Elks or member of the general public, or a particular group of people who have been involved in any activity that has raised the profile of the community in a positive light. Award nomination should be in recognition of work achieved by the recipient within the past 2-years (from the time of nomination). Award Categories: 1. Community Leadership Award: Presented to an individual who has demonstrated community leadership and shows there on going efforts in leading by example in the community. An inspirational leader who is strengthening our community through their extraordinary volunteer work or position in a not for profit organization or government agency. 2. Servant Leader Award: Presented to an individual whose leadership, achievements and innovation have led to improvements in the public sector creating a community with greater voice and access and shows inspiring leadership and service. 3. Out Standing Achievement Award: Presented to an individual who has accomplished an out standing achievement as a citizen and as role model in the community. The successful nominee/s will receive an award marking their achievement that year. The award would be presented at the Annual African American History Month ceremonies held in Saturday February 21, 2105. How to nominate: Nominations should be sent in writing to the Chair of the MASSASOIT LODGE No. 129 Awards Nomination Committee, located at 55 Bishop Richard Allen Drive in Cambridge Ma 02139, or emailed to selvintbw@aol by January 31, 2015 for consideration by the Awards Committee. Successful nominees will be contacted to inform them that they have been nominated/awarded and to confirm their acceptance. Terms and conditions of acceptance must be agreed upon two weeks before the awards ceremonies. A formal presentation of the award will be made at the annual African American History month event.
