THE MENTALIST SPOILER ALERT YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED Just finished watching the Mentalist. We finally get to see Jane get exact his vengeance on Red John. With the FBI arresting the CBI team, Jane was on his own. Red John lures Jane to a private meeting. Jane agrees but names the place. He chooses the chapel in the graveyard where his wife and daughter are burried. We all saw last week that the head of the CBI. Or so we thought. Janes meets the Director and ends up in a trap. The Director apologizes to Jane and orders his lackey to kill Jane. In a twist, the lackey turns the gun on the Director and fires a single round to the chest killing him. At this time we hear anothe man speak, thanking the lackey and telling him to bait out side. THIS is the real Red John, showing a gun to Jane making sure to prove that he was the smarter of the two. A few minutes of artful word play, Red John lets Jane know he is about to die. Jane asks First, may I show you something?. RD agrees and steps to Jane who is pulling something from his pocket and offering it to RJ. Breadcrumbs, RJ goggles as he looks at the crumbs in his hand. Jane then like a true magician produces a pigeon and tosses it at RJ who is terrified of birds. In the commotion, Jane drops back reaches under a pew, retrieves a gun and quickly fires two shots into RJ wounding him. Jane then turns like a real CBI agent and fires two more rounds in the lackey who was just coming in the door. Now Jane is standing over RJ and then a woman walks into the chapel and tries to get Jane to Put the gun down that there has been enough blood. Jane is telling her she needs to leave that he is a cop. She keeps coming closer and closer. Suddenly she swipes a knife at Jane and he dodges. She swings and he dodges again. This time he trips and falls on a candle stick and the woman the woman charges him. Jane grabs the candle stick and whacks her. Jane gets up , grabs his gun and seeing RJ is gone. He gives chace. RJ is mortally wounded and Jane catches him easily just as RJ is calling 911. Jane takes the phone and shut it off. Crouching on RJs chest Jane puts his hand around RJS throat and tells him to blink once for yes and twice for no and asks him if he was sorry for killing has wife and daughter. RJ blinks twice. We watch as Jane squeezes reveling in watching this horrible man die slowly. Swith to the old CBI HQ all our favorite agents are sitting in folding chairs as Lisbons phone starts to ring. An FBI agent standing guard tells them no and we switch back to Jane leaving Lisbon a voice mail telling her it was over that He will miss her. We watch as Jane ends the call and drops the cell into the trash, he walks away leaving the body. As the end music starts playing he doubles up to a fast jog and disappears into the park. IMHO, the best ending that could have been. Cant wait to see it next week.
