THE NEWS UPDATES AT 12:00 PM Authorities in Pader district are investigating some members of Village Environment Committees (VEC) in the district for promoting deforestation. They say the members have formed a strong racket of charcoal traders in the district instead of combating the vice widely blamed for deforestation in the district. A bag of charcoal in Pader costs between 20,000 and 35,000 shillings. Otuke district is still here to stay. This stems from the comments of Quinto Ojok, the Otuke district speaker.
