THE OTHER FACE OF COLONIZATION. The Angleland and her brother across the Atlantic cannot be said to be unconnected with the political and the economic mishapenings around the globe. Their greatest victim being Africa in general and Nigeria in particular. Striving to recover from the mental derail and economic assault stemming from long time slavery, they landed again with the Gospel in their mouth and the Bible in their hands making a request that we pray with them only to open our eyes to discover that the Bible had became ours and the Continent, theirs. Hence, the birth of colonization which lasted for almost one century. Another mental, economic and political domination. The missionerys hence became a prelude towards colonization of Africa, but the huge discrepancy between the Christian teaching of universal brotherhood and the treatment the people received from these missionerys became a question of great concern. Binding up of communities or groups with irreconcilable views, traditions, culture and belief into one nation systematically brought about by the false doctrine of democracy resulted in the birth of Nigeria, hence, the destruction of the basis of a possible communal life. This at independence plunged the country into 10 year of scrambling for grab, ethnic and tribal antagonism, racial and regional segregation and finally, 30 months of civil war in which an estimated 3 million people lost their lives. The preceding 30 years were marked by political experimentation between the military and the politicians. The whole system is filled with impurity and the nation needs both political and moral purification. A country whose geographic location enabled her to benefit in terms of the natural resources ranging from huge reserve of crude oil, solid minerals, fertile land for mechanization of Agriculture and industrial raw materials. All these alone fully permit her of economic self- sufficient. In the light of this, look at the army of the unemployed graduates roaming here and there! The leaders will start some nonsense programs to alleviate the poverty of their fellow hungry countryman and the program would not even get to the targeted people. This high treachery of the masses should be ruthlessly eradicated. We need to seek for the final removal of these distress both in the economy and our foolish behaviour. Creating and securing conditions necessary for a really profound revival of our political system. Doing away with all these confused domestic economic policies which they hypocritically claimed to be the solution to our economic assault in which they selfishly enrich themselves out of misfortune of their fellow countrymen. Instead of trying to protect something that was being threatened, rather only to attack that which seemed incapable of defence. In any case, the government should be educated in the spirit of desire for for moral, political, and economic freedom because this is a complete incompetence of the man in charge. Otherwise, every political office should be deserted because they have painfully and conscientiously failed to fulfil the obligation entrusted to them by the law.
