THE PHILADELPHIA SENATE ON AGING REMEMBERS VEROLGA I am Director - TopicsExpress

THE PHILADELPHIA SENATE ON AGING REMEMBERS VEROLGA I am Director of the Philadelphia Senate On Aging which celebrated its Annual Christmas Luncheon, Thurs., December 11 at Janes Memorial United Methodist Church. Verolga has thrilled our hearts with her beautiful talent for over a decade. Often she and Diana Newman (her friend for over 60 years) would mesmerize us with a duet of Oh Holy Night. Several times she voluntarily directed our impromptu choir (accompanied by Dr. Lawrence French) in our Christmas sing-a-long; she loved it. She and individual members of Intermezzo has contributed money, time and talent every year; she also was a supporter this year. The audience glanced at her picture while listening to HOLY. Reverend Dr. Andrew Foster, III, stood in front of the group with his head bowed as others sat quietly reflecting on her life. Jocelyn Tracey Gilliard (Soloist on Holy), Diana Newman, Jennifer Kopp-Lewis and Karen Randolph huddled together and cried. It was a surreal moment. The tears were a release and after a few moments the room exploded in praise and worship. Our caterers - Tanya Newman and Tammy Horton - were asked to sing a verse of Oh Come All Ye Faithful... they invited their Mom, Diana, to join them and the trio sang us happy. Janet Thompson, Nancy Winder and Karen Randolph also blessed us with their powerful voices. Karen Randolph, a gifted pianist, had us dancing even after the closing prayer. People really didnt want to go home. It was a wonderful way to end our luncheon and celebration of the life of Dr. Verolga Nix.
