THE PROBLEM WITH WOLE SOYINKA: Uncle Wole is man I respect - TopicsExpress

THE PROBLEM WITH WOLE SOYINKA: Uncle Wole is man I respect immensely, I always have. He is perhaps, one of the most credible and honest Nigerians I know. He is attractive to legions of Nigerian youth, he is iconic, charismatic, obviously very bright and has a name recognition which carries tons of international goodwill. He is imbued with everything to be a powerful catalyst for REAL SOCIO-POLITICAL CHANGE in Nigeria, to be the SPEARHEAD for the millions of Nigerians yearning for credible, selfless and fearless leadership. Rather than embrace that natural role which he is uniquely positioned to play, he chooses to be a RELUCTANT LEADER and a PART TIME CHANGE AGENT, content with occasionally lobbing grammar-laden vitriol against successions of inept, corrupt and oppressive Nigerian governments. Na grammar we go chop? Uncle Wole can mobilize, inspire and motivate the youth of this Nation (60% of the population) like nobody else. He can spearhead a focused, consistent and sustained socio-political action to midwife the much needed CHANGE in the polity, but he chooses to completely embrace that responsibility. Even at the ripe old age of 80, he could become our LECH WALESA and maybe give to this country, the greatest and most cherished parting gift.
