THE SALVATION ARMY RESPONDS TO FLOODS IN SOUTHERN ALBERTA Calgary, AB – June 24, 2013 The Salvation Army is actively assisting flood victims throughout Calgary and Southern Alberta. The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Response team is mobilizing its fleet of Community Response Units (CRU) to be deployed to flood areas that have been affected and are in need of physical, emotional and spiritual support. At present Community Response Units are on site at the evacuation centre in Blackie providing food, as well as in High River helping to meet the needs of the first responders. The Salvation Army is also in Medicine Hat at the evacuation centre assisting with accommodations, clothing and other needed items. The Salvation Army is accepting monetary only at this time donations which can be made on-line at SalvationArmy.ca/floodrelief or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
