THE YAOUNDE MEGA CRUSADE: AS IF YOU WERE THERE Cameroon, a land of plenty, is endowed with enormous mineral resources, enjoys political peace and above all is experiencing a Christian spiritual growth. One of those championing the Christian spiritual movements is Apostle John Chi, Former Wiseman at the Synagogue, Church of all Nations, Nigeria. Ever since he returned to the country, he has successfully organized three crusades with the Yaounde crusade being the hallmark. After Douala and Bamenda, it was the turn of Yaounde city dwellers and its environs to receive the Man of God from the 13 to 14 December 2014 within the framework of a Mega crusade dubbed “Cameroon for Christ”. The host arena, the famous multipurpose sports complex, witnessed an overflow of delegates who came from every nook and cranny of the country. The International community was equally highly represented with people trooping in from Australia, Thailand, South Africa, the USA, Gabon, Germany, Togo, Cote D’Ivoire and Nigeria, all in a bid to have a firsthand encounter with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ through his humble servant Apostle John Chi. Given the massive turnout at the complex, the gates to the host ground were flung open as early as 7 am with the event due to begin at 12 noon. The arrival of the Man of God, Apostle John Chi, at the crusade ground was graced by a song from the choir, amidst acclamations and ululations from the cheering crowd. In his usual calm manner, he greeted the people with loving words in French, his second official language, to the amazement of the crowd. In his sermon, he reassured the people that they were all citizens of heaven depending on the choices they make in life. He further reiterated that life was full of theorems and practice. As practicing Christians, one was obliged to take God’s word to heart. Anxious faces kept gazing at him in awe in order to receive from God: breakthrough, healing, deliverance, impartation and above all salvation. Action was matched with words when the Man of God began praying with people. As their faith was lifted up, so did they receive. Among the deliverances were outstanding cases such as the man with the issue of blood cancer (leukemia) driven in an ambulance from one of the main hospitals in town. The crippled walked. The visually impaired could see again and the dumb spoke. At this point, the crowd was overwhelmed. The echoes of the first day touched every single corner of the town, sending wild messages of what had happened the previous day. As such, the waiting crowd doubled on the second day. The Man of God’s sermon centered around man’s personal relationship with the Almighty Father. The crusade culminated with a business forum, a meeting with government officials and charity donations to the Muslim community in the Briqueterie neighbourhood in Yaounde and at the centre for the abandoned and the elderly run by Rev. Sisters of Mother Teresa found in Simbock, Yaounde.
