THEIRS VS MINE CREAM OF CHICKEN SOUP I found myself often saying at 9 am Whats for dinner? Then I shuffle off to the cabinets and freezer and prepare for what I can only imagine looks like a Mexican stand off. Today is damn cold in Texas and comfort food sounded really good. Digging through the freezer I find peas and carrots tucked away in the abyss behind the ice packs and batteries. Its a start... Dig, dig, dig...Hamburger and skillet meat....SCORE! Shepherds pie oh yeah... To the cabinets... No cream of anything... Ugh. So close to fulfilling an easy dinner to be taken down by lack of cream of chicken soup. Minor setback, Ive made this before in Hawaii on Thanksgiving, I can do this again. Pinterest here I come. Potatoes boiling for the topping I set out on the milk,flour,chicken stock concoction. Now after yesterdays disaster with the pumpkin spice lava coffee I admit I was a tad gun shy around the kitchen this morning still licking my wounds from yesterday. I used cream I needed to use before December and doubled the recipe. I didnt have stock but had bullion. The cream and flour added together made dough. Straight up big ball of white creamy dough. I had to add about 2 cups of milk to thin it out, but it was a very happy mistake because it turned out incredibly creamy like a canned product. Next time Ill add milk first then cream afterwards. Below is the pie without the taters on top yet. It is very tasty with just the seasonings to the soup I added nothing else and it was perfect. Go to Pinterest or my earlier post for the recipe. This is going to be a make at home not keep in cabinet product from here on. So much better! I would strain the cream/flour mix next time to rid this wondrous delight of any lumps. Other then that... Kitchen WIN today:)
