THEOLOGY CORNER (CONTD): We have been reviewing the Calvinist TULIP. So far we have considered the T, that is total depravity, and recognized that different views exist on that point. But regardless, we saw that Biblically, God enlightens every person, teaches every person and draws every person to Jesus. Therefore, God finds some way to reach everyone. We next considered the U, Unconditional Election. We found that the Bible teaches Conditions to Election: 1) Gods foreknowledge, that is, Him knowing ahead of time, 1 Peter 1:3 and Romans 8:29; and,2) belief on Jesus, John 3:16. Then we looked at the L, Limited Atonement. We saw that John 3:16 answers that question. God so loved the WORLD that He gave His only Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth should not perish but have everlasting life. We saw that God does not want anyone to perish, but wants all to come to repentance. And that His grace has appeared to all men, calling them to repentance. Now, we look at the I, which is Irresistible Grace. Here is a short definition of the term, from Wikipedia: Irresistible Grace is a doctrine which teaches that the saving grace of God is effectually applied to those whom he has determined to save (the elect) and overcomes their resistance to obeying the call of the gospel, bringing them to faith in Christ. What are your thoughts about it?
