THERE IS HOPE DAY 245 - We must never forget that God is a god of true justice. That means there will be judgment, and as with any judgment, there will be those that are found guilty and those found just. Entire nations will most certainly fall, and their people judged accordingly. History does have a way of repeating itself. Know this, however, we can always – as a people – turn God’s heart and change our destiny. In 2 Chronicles 7:14 we read one of the most encouraging verses in the Bible – “if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” America’s history is clear that we were founded as a Christian nation. The preamble to the Declaration of Independence refers to the “Laws of Nature and Nature’s God”. In the first paragraph – known as the Declaration of Natural Rights – our Founding Father’s penned these words, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Who could now deny that the Creator is none other than our Heavenly Father? That was over 200 years ago. Since then, we have steadily drifted away as a nation from God. In many ways, we have elevated ourselves to gods. We badly imitate the Creator by deciding when life is viable and when the elderly should be done away with. Wrong has become right and right has become wrong. Folks, our country is in dire straits. Still, there is hope. America – even now – are God’s people. We must humble ourselves. This means we have to make ourselves low and bow before a Holy God. This level of humility requires us to be sorrowful for our sin in our hearts and minds. Having humbled ourselves, we need to pray. We need to pray individually, but more importantly, we must pray together as a nation. From the President to the laborer, we all must pray and seek the face of God. Then, we must show God the truthfulness of our hearts by turning from our wicked ways. We must reset our country’s moral code. Wrong must be made wrong again, and righteousness encouraged. The Bible – God’s Truth with a capital “T” – should be the source of all law. Natural Law and the Laws of Nature should be taught in every law school. Sin will be called what it is – sin. If our nation could undertake these steps, God will hear us. Not only hear us, but He will forgive our sin and heal our land. The greatness that founded this nation can be once more, and we can be that city on the hill for the entire world to see. It is not too late. There is hope. That hope must start with the Body of Christ. In fact, it must start with you and me. Go back and read those words of encouragement and make them your own today. With your effort and mine, we can begin to turn this nation around. C2013
