THIS ONE IS FOR YOU, MY SAL! Sal, is my wonderful friend in South Africa who had some challenges over the weekend with electricity. I purchased another copy of my old meditation book, ‘The Imitation of Christ’ and I opened it up this morning to a chapter that reminded me that “it cannot but be good, whatever God shall do to us, whether we’re in darkness or in light.” Woohoo!! I love this book! Here’s another guest writer today, Thomas A Kempis, from 600 years ago: “Christ (God): My child, let me do with you what I will; I know what is best for you. You think as a human being: you judge many things as human affection persuades you. Disciple: Lord, what you say is true; your solicitude for me is greater than any care that I can have for myself, because he lives too much at hazard who does not cast his whole care on you. Lord, as long as my will remains right and firm in you, do with me whatsoever it shall please you. Because it cannot but be good, whatever you shall do with me. If you want me to be in darkness, be you blessed; and if you want me to be in light, be you still blessed. If you deign to console me, be you blessed, and if you want me to be afflicted, be you always equally blessed. Christ (God): My child, this is how you must be, if you wish to walk with me. You must be as ready to suffer as to rejoice. You must willingly love to be poor and needy of all as to be rich and wealthy. Prayer: O God, do with me what it may please you to do. Try me with every sort of tribulation, but preserve me from sin. Deprive me of all earthly goods, but do not take your grace away from me. Be always mine, now and for all eternity. Amen” WE ROLL WITH GOD!
