THIS SPECIAL LITTLE GIRL NEEDS YOU AGAIN. With all of the recent emergencies, Dixie needs us too. And we need your help for her once again. Dixie has been a Den Favorite since she was shot in the back and paralyzed. Recently, she had her tail amputated to prevent recurring infections while she was being treated for sores on her legs. Dixie needs a home with someone who can be with her and where she will not be left alone. Her bladder MUST be expressed, and she needs to use her wheels when she goes outside. Dixie should also use diapers and have them changed regularly to prevent the terrible uric acid sores from forming on her legs and bottom. Dixie is very high-spirited, and this terribly injury is not going to slow this little girl down. She will bounce on her bottom or drag her legs behind her to get where she wants to go. We are working to get her a collapsible wheel chair so she can lie down while she is in it. She has wheels, but they are not sturdy enough for her activity level and she cannot lie down when she has her wheels attached. Currently, Dixie is with Dr. Gensel and staff and will be going into a foster home as soon as she leaves there. Dixie needs to put some weight back on and she MUST KNOW SHE IS ALWAYS WANTED AND SPECIAL. Please do not attempt to adopt Dixie if you are not prepared to dedicate to her for the remainder of her life. Her spirit is very strong and she LOVES to be with people. Dixie enjoys all of the things every dog enjoys; she just needs a bit of help from someone dedicated to her care. She is easy to love, but love is not enough without the time and dedication it takes. We will introduce her foster family when she is ready to leave the vet’s office. We also need your help to care for Dixie. She has a very large vet bill that is growing as she gets back into shape. She MUST have this care to live and Dixie wants to live. Anyone who meets her instantly knows this girl may be handicapped, but she is full of life and ready to live it. To donate for Dixie’s recent medical problems and surgery, and for her on-going care as she recovers and prepares to live her life … and to assist in purchasing a wheel chair that will allow her to live her life to the max … go to Pay Pal eaglesdenrescue@live You can use our Quick Link but will not be able to leave a note if you do. You are welcome to leave a message here or in a PM that your donation is for Dixie. https://paypal/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=CF7XNPKP9QFWE You can also call the vet: Elizabethtown Veterinary Hospital: 910-862-3000 If you call, please let this wonderful staff know how much you appreciate the care they are giving Dixie. She is well-loved in this office and if you stop by while she is there, you may well see her tagging behind one of the staff members in her wheels with a huge smile on her face. These people saved Dixie’s life and we are all dedicated to seeing her live that life to the fullest. Thank you ALL for helping us with Dixie and a huge thanks to all of those who have been instrumental in seeing her live a quality life. That determination and love is felt by Dixie … and she is still fighting for her right to live thanks to you. I tell you so often that YOU SUSTAIN US and I honestly mean it when I say it … but much more is the fact that your love and support sustains the animals … YOU ARE OUR ANGELS AND WE ARE BLESSED, ~Beth~ ~EDR~ If anyone would like to send something to Dixie, she LOVES treats and she needs Large Disposable Diapers and Pee Pads. She could also use a new bed and blankets. 1453 Campbell Road Clarkton, NC 28433 We will post new pictures of Dixie this week. With all of the emergencies lately it has been hard to remember the camera when we fly out the door.
