FRIDAY - Caxton St Jazz Band = The 6-piece Caxton Street Jazz Band presents hot, swinging jazz in a manner that elicits enthusiastic responses from both listening and dancing audiences. Members of the band include some of Australia’s leading jazz players in their idiom, as well as two instrumentalists who are also vocalists. This is a band that not only appeals to jazz aficionados, but also to the general public. BOOK NOW – always a sell-out ! SATURDAY - Yitzhak Yedid is an award-winning Israeli composer and pianist and recipient of the Israel Prime Minister Prize for Composers (2007) and the Landau prize for performing Arts (2009). Drawing from his Israeli roots, Yedid creates haunting modal melodies which weave their way through rich, sometimes surprising, harmonic tapestries. Jazz, Classical and Middle Eastern images are juxtaposed. Barry Davis from DownBeat Magazine describes Yedid as a wonderful storyteller and master pianist. SUNDAY - If you missed her gig at Riverfire on Saturday or want to see more....Renae Suttie, one of Brisbane’s great jazz vocalists (winner of the 2007 ABC Valley Jazz Festival’s Jazz Vocalist Award), teams up with vocalist/pianist Simon Watson to present a night of jazz standards and popular songs in a jazz style - you’ll be treated to a night of variety, musicality and heart.
