THE PECULIAR INSTITUTION is a piece of old American newspeak for slavery, supposed to be used in polite company rather than the real thing. But was it? Allen argued the inverse, that the truly peculiar institution founded on these shores was the white race. Nonexistent in biology, it was created as a social construct for social control, then spread beyond our shores. Slavery has been gone for 150 years or more, but in the form of millions of people thinking there is such a thing as the white race and theyre in it, well, it continues to this day, and is indeed, peculiar, and still working it magic in keeping us all under the thumb of our betters.
