..THOUGHTS ON WORSHIP (2)......................... As a way of introduction, I came across a quote made by the sage A.W Tozer which says Christians dont tell lies, we only sing it in songs, How true? One of the important truths I have learnt over time about Worship is captured in this sentence Worship is by Revelation. so simple yet full of revelation. I will like to illustrate with an experience I had a few months ago. I did my SIWES program in Covenant University Farms, and one of those days I had a strong impression in my spirit to pray walk for a few minute and I responded. In my rendezvous with the Spirit, I happened to pass behind the University Chapel and coincidentally they were holding their mid-week Chapel service and the choir were singing a song I love so much but had a revelation of that day. The song is Sinachs Great are you Lord. the first part of the song says: HOLY HOLY GOD ALMIGHTY ITS A PRIVILEGE TO WORSHIP YOU CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE ITS AN HONOUR JUST TO STAND BEFORE YOU As I meditated on the words I thought to myself What would be my reaction if I received an invitation to visit the President in his Villa or the Chancellor Dr. David Oyedepo in his office what a great honour that would be, the whole world is going to hear about it, pictures of the visit all over Facebook etc. As I meditated and sang this song, tears dropped off my face there on the street, I lost consciousness of my surrounding and realized amazing privileges we have in worship to fellowship not the president of a nation, but the creator of the whole universe. The message today is, dont just sing, think about the words in the song and make sure they represent the state of your heart. Dont sing I cant live without you when you can. To worship leaders, dont just sing songs because they are nice song, let it be an expression of the heart lest we draw near him with our lips and our hearts far from him.
