THUNDERSTORM ALERT The data is removing a lot of uncertainty - TopicsExpress

THUNDERSTORM ALERT The data is removing a lot of uncertainty from the forecasts regarding thunderstorm potential for our area starting on Sunday. The newest runs are showing an increasing coverage area for storms on Sunday, and higher likelihood of storms occurring. Basically all of Southern Oregon is now looking at a threat for storms on Sunday. It might take until Sunday night for the Coast and Douglas County to see them. Monday is going to be a rock em, sock em kind of a day as it looks right now with storms firing off across the region including the Coastal areas. The huge concern here is for dry storms and sadly that looks like the scenario we have shaping up. The National Weather Service Office here in Medford now has a Fire Weather Watch up for all of Southern Oregon and Northern California starting at 11 AM on Sunday morning and going through 11 PM Monday night. Yes, I do mean EVERYWHERE including the Coastal areas. There is a high likelihood that the Fire Weather Watch will be replaced by a Red Flag Warning.....so just plan on that happening now. This just continues the pattern we have seemed to be in since the end of June. Wave of thunderstorms comes in...starts fires....all hell breaks loose......crews rush out....resources pour in......fires get controlled......repeat process. This has been going on for approaching two months now and it looks like it is going to continue. What the data also seems to indicate is that after the storms clear out of the area on Wednesday of next week...we will likely see heat arriving at the end of next week and into the weekend of the 16th and 17th. Not what we need to see happen following three days of lightning that is going to be starting new fires.
