TITLE: Help Desk, PLAY CASTING: 6 Male, 2 Female; see below CREW: Production Designer, Stage Manager, Makeup, Wardrobe LOCATION: SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA COMPENSATION: Unpaid TIMES: - Auditions NOW - Rehearsals 1 February to 17 February (every day) - Performances 18 February to 23 February MORE DETAILS SHORT AND SWEET As of yesterday, I’m directing a Short and Sweet play preforming the week of 18 to 23 February. You will need to be available for each night of the performance. As the time for this is short and their festival is already running, I really need highly motivated and creative actors. You don’t need a life time of experience, I can work with anyone who is determined and passionate. Be Determined, Be Passionate, Be Tenacious. And show me this. Be so self motivated that between now and the 18th, you have at least 4-6 hours a day to spare with me to attend workshops and rehearsals. Lets be realistic, there are prizes to win and recognition and exposure so lets treat it like a Mega Star Broadway show and win everyone over. I want that audience in the palm of my hand! You want a standing ovation every night. Together, we’ll achieve that! I was given a choice of two scripts. They were both overall pretty similar. So the reality is, it’s up to us to get the audience on the edge of their seat. It’s up to you! CAST 1 x TOM - Male aged 23 to 29 – Young, ok looking but doesn’t stand out in a crowd 1 x BOSS - Male aged 34 to 45 – Indian, maybe Asian, string minded, determined, target oriented. 1 x ALICE - Female aged 18-15 – Rock chick. Playful, Flirty, Cute. Think Abby Sciuto from NCIS or SAM in “Cardnapped” (one of my short films” 1 x NAN - Female aged 60 upwards. - Toms Grandmother 1 x Old Man – Male Aged 60 upwards. Old sounding voice, a bit senile, old time didn’t keep up. 3 x Male There are three other male characters that are open in age and nationality. They could be the same actor, only appearing on stage once, maybe twice with a good “look change” or convince me you can look three people and you’ve got the roles! Characters only interact with TOM, and not each other. So we can focus on a paired rehearsal time table, however I do encourage you to come and watch all actors and direction as you will LEARN an overwhelming amount. Week 1 – 1 February to 10 February Rehearsals Can be Days or Evenings. Everyone will be required for the first rehearsal. Which will run at least 4 hours. I’d like to have this scheduled no later than the 3rd of February. Rehearsals will focus on the Character of TOM. TOM will be required for rehearsals every day. Other characters will have a little flexibility and we’ll organise a locked down committed schedule to work with TOM. Week 2 - 11 February to 17 February Rehearsals All cast will be required for 3-4 hours each day, can be days or evenings. I prefer days, however am reasonably flexible. I am happy to run all day 8 hour rehearsals if TOM is willing, enabling other actors to come in for 2 hour or longer periods. I recommend other actors maximise this opportunity. Please note that Directing Film and Stage is my full time career. I don’t have a fall back job. I don’t have supermarket job to bring in extra cash. You expect that when you are working with me, you will give the same commitment. You will be part of a very close family during this period. We’ll be doing some exercises. I’m happy to do Video Skype to audition you so we don’t have to necessarily rush to a location. As any actor who has spoken with me in the last 12 months knows, I am tough and brutal in a phone interview. Don’t expect to not work hard! Auditions commence immediately. This is a great opportunity to gain intense experience.
