TL;DR - You can go 13,000-15,000 miles on a change of oil, Trifecta Tuned. I thought Id share an oil analsyis with you guys since we havent had a Trifecta Tuned one with any significantly extended drain. Terry Collins was kind enough to spend $25 to get his oil analyzed recently. He was running AMSOIL Signature Series 0W-30. Before I continue, it is worth noting that our vehicles will start just fine down to -15F on a 10W Group 4/5-based oil. 0W-30 was chosen due to a small fuel economy increase in especially cold weather, although the 5W-30 and 10W-30 oils tend to have a more resilient additive package. In any case, here are the numbers: 2011 Cruze Eco 1.4 Turbo, Trifecta tuned Drain interval: 13,000 miles Engine mileage: 54,000 miles Oil filter change: 7,000 miles Driving Split: 70% city, 30% highway i16.photobucket/albums/b37/SirMaverick00/tecollinsuoa_zpsd5cd9317.png I expressed some concern in this group with tuned vehicles and fuel dilution, and was happy to find that this was not an issue. Throughout the drain interval, the viscosity held, and all additives except for the Boron held pretty well. Boron is an anti-wear/anti-friction additive. Magnesium was flagged as abnormal but not critical. TBN (Total Base Number) reflects the oils total acidity neutralizing capacity. Depletion of TBN is non-linear; the greatest depletion will occur within the first few thousand miles. TBN here is significantly low but not yet critical. Based on the rate of depletion, these conditions would safely and confidently merit a 15,000 mile oil change interval. Terry switched out his K&N filter for the Injen EA filter about 10,000 miles before this report. The Silicone levels demonstrate some excellent filtration ability. 16ppm is what youd expect at this mileage on an OE filter. For those of you who are oil analysis-iliterate, Ill post a reply to this post with some general element descriptions and acceptable levels.
