TO A DISAPPOINTED PARENT CONCERNING A WAYWARD CHILD...(REPOST!) Parents, while the behavior of your child may indeed be a great disappointment to you now, please be encouraged and do not give up on them nor on yourself just yet. What your child is doing now and where he or she maybe now is by no means a lock as to what they can be doing later and where they can be. In other words, a start is not a finish, no matter how futile and frustrating it appears. Your child is not now, who they can become!!! Young Mark was such a glaring disappointment to Paul at the start of his missionary work that Paul refused to allow him to continue in the ministry; a decision that was so brutal in the eyes of Barnabas that it caused a major split between those two very good friends, partners and seasoned saints. (Acts 15:37-40) Barnabas however, refused to give up on young Mark and as a result of his refusal to abandon this young man, Mark went on to not only be, in the hands of God, a great instrument for the spreading of the Gospel but a profitable partner to the very person, Paul, who very early in his life had given up on him! (2 Timothy 4:11) So I encourage you, parents, keep praying for your child and certainly keep the faith. And keep this in mind also concerning the dynamics of prayer and faith. Our prayers affect the outcome only and not the route our children may have to take to get them to their destiny. That alone is in Gods hands. Things therefore may indeed appear worse, even while we are patient and praying for them and they may indeed have to travel through undesirable terrain before they arrive but you must trust God and not walk by sight but instead by faith...! His promises are sure. Our children are not now what they can become!!!!
