TO ALL ANIMAL LOVERS. The photos I usually post here are those I select because of artistic appeal and those that show the animal off best. Those pictures, however, are not always indicative of the life of a wild animal living in a dog-eat-dog environment like Africa. Today I will be posting some pix that show what everyday life is like for these animals. Kill or don’t eat ….. or be chased and killed while merely minding your own business and eating leaves. The first time you see this in Africa it is disturbing and seeing death never becomes commonplace. However, you have to get past that and realize the “circle of life” isn’t always peaceful. In the past three and a half year years I have done over 250 game drives and have seen many hunts and chases. I have NOT yet seen an actual kill happen and am sure it will be an emotional moment when I do. Strange, but it’s always what we are looking for, while hoping it never happens …… realizing full-well that if it doesn’t happen someone will go hungry and some mom will not get what it takes to nurse the young. We still always cheer for the animal being chased. I see this kind of thing in Africa frequently and my senses have been conditioned to accept it as natural. what I cannot accept is the carnage caused by poachers which are threatening the existence of many species around the world. There are many internet sites aimed at eradicating poaching. If you do not see those on YOUR FB, and would like to know more about the problem, let me know and will direct you to their pages.
