=======TO KNOW THAT WE HAVE LIMITED TIME========== The presidential and the National Assembly elections will hold on February 14, 2015, according to time table released by the Independent National Electoral Election (INEC) yesterday. It also scheduled the governorship and State House of Assemblies Elections for 20th February, 2015. In a statement by the commission’s secretary at the end of its retreat in Kaduna last night, the commission said the state governorship elections and those of state assemblies are going to hold on February 28. “Pursuant to the provisions of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), the Independent National Electoral Commission has released the timetable and schedule of activities leading to the 2015 General Elections and the Ekiti and Osun governorship elections. “After deliberation and consideration at its four day retreat...in Kaduna from Tuesday 21st - Friday 24 January 2014, the commission has scheduled the Presidential and National Assembly Elections on the 14th February, 2015 and the Governorship and State House of Assemblies Elections for 28th February, 2015. “The Ekiti governorship election is scheduled to hold on 21st June 2014, while the Osun state governorship Election is scheduled to hold on 9th August, 2015,” the stated concluded. Weekly Trust reports that the release of the time table by INEC is coming a day after President Goodluck Jonathan told CNBC Africa that he was awaiting the go-ahead from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in line with the Electoral Act, to decide on his interest. “INEC have a time frame within which candidates are expected to declare. If you declare before that time you are actually contravening the Nigerian laws. So I won’t tell anybody that I am contesting or that I’m not contesting. “It is not proper for me to do that. It is not proper for any Nigerian to declare any interest now. If you do that you are contravening our electoral laws,” he told the television station on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum conference in Davos, Switzerland.
