TODAYS DEVOTIONAL LESSON By: Towana Williams Revenge Is A Waste Of Your God Given Time I can say for certain, that I have had vindictive and vengeful feelings towards others in my life. I think that its fair to say that we all have at one time or another, have thought about getting even or we actually did get even. Revenge is a useless waste of your time, spirit and energy. You have to spend God given time to figure out, how you are going to do it; if you need a willing or unwilling helper; how to make sure that the plan works; what tools, resources or skills are going to be required to pull it off; how are you going to escape getting caught or what your victory speech will be like, because you want them to know that it was YOU. That same energy could and should be used to pray about the situation, while asking God for a forgiving heart-along with you asking God for forgiveness for plotting on another person. The outcome will have a much more peaceful resolution and you would not have PISSED GOD off. This applies specifically to marriages, relationships, friendships, business alliances and people with big mouths, who lack the power of silence and common sense. Sometimes you have more power in knowing what you could do to a person, opposed to actually doing it. For example: you and a friend fall out about something petty and your alleged friend makes a open threat against you. What your alleged friend is forgetting, is that you have a lot of dirt on them. And if you pursued that vengeful course, you could very easily ruin their life or destroy their current or past situations. Ask yourself what is the Godly thing to do? Well here it is: Do not think evil, do not plot evil, do not hurt those who God created and do not settle the score. Vengeance belongs to God, not man! What if God made you pay back every debt that you owe to Him, based on revenge? You would already be dead and sentenced to hell. Show love in the face of adversity and let go of anger and revenge.
